Overview
Plymouth Devon International College (PDIC) is the latest Navitas College in the UK. Located on the beautiful south west peninsula of England, PDIC provides a pathway for international students wishing to study undergraduate degrees at the University of Plymouth.
Once you have successfully completed the PDIC portion of your studies, you will be able to progress onto your chosen programme at the University of Plymouth.
The University of Plymouth has a strong record of excellence, enterprise and innovation across its teaching and research activities and is justifiably proud of its reputation for high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education. In terms of student numbers, the University is the 5th largest in the UK and provides a wide berth of student orientated communities.
The University of Plymouth also excels in its "forward thinking" attitude to higher education and demonstrates a teaching strategy which provides students with the necessary educational skills to thrive in the ever changing global market. Plymouth's aim is to become the "enterprise university" delivering outstanding economic, social and cultural benefits from our intellectual capital. This is pivotal in a city acknowledged as the enterprise capital of the south west.
The University's rapidly developing national and international research profile attracts significant funds annually to support research by staff and it supervises a large number of PhD and postgraduate students. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), confirmed that the University carries out world-leading research in the vast majority of its research areas. Overall, 80% of the research was judged as of international repute. At Plymouth, students can be proud to work alongside world-class experts.
At PDIC you will study a University designed programme, taught mainly by University lecturers on the Plymouth city centre campus. The courses follow the university curricula and assessment requirements, so you will also be working to the same high standards.
Direct Progression from PDIC to the University of Plymouth
At PDIC we are proud of our association with the University of Plymouth and work closely with the University's academic schools to ensure that once you complete the PDIC portion of your studies, you are fully prepared to progress onto subsequent years at Plymouth and eventually graduate with a good degree.
Flexibility
Choosing to study at PDIC offers you the flexibility of starting your studies at three points in the year - February, June and October. This allows you to join the degree programme of choice ahead of other students who may choose the traditional UK academic entry system with degrees starting in September.
Value for money
PDIC tuition fees are very competitively priced compared to other similar UK institutions, providing an affordable quality education. In addition to this, Plymouth is the cheapest UK University city to live in according to a 2008 poll conducted by the Royal Bank of Scotland. Plus the important role tourism plays in the local economy provides many opportunities for PDIC students to secure part time work
Class sizes
PDIC prides itself on having small classes which average 20 students through all programmes. This lets you familiarize yourself with the university environment at Foundation or 1st Year level before joining the larger classes at University. Smaller class sizes at PDIC compared to Universities, and still being able to study on a UK University campus, makes studying with us an easy choice!
Location & Facilities
The university is located at the geographical and emotional heart of the city of Plymouth and plays a key role in the city's cultural, economic and social life, with strong links to business and professional communities across the South West and throughout the UK. Accommodation
At PDIC we recognise the importance of safe and comfortable accommodation. For many of our students the decision to study at Plymouth will be the first time they have lived away from their family and friends for a long period of time. For this reason we offer a range of accommodation options so that all of our students feel that they have 'a home away from home'. This not only allows the student to concentrate on his/her studies but also makes the experience of living and learning in another country all the more enjoyable.
