Intakes

The main intake offered by all UK Universities is September / October with a wide platter of course choices and few universities do offer courses in popular demand such as Engineering & IT, Biosciences, Business Studies, MBA for Jan / Feb & April/May intake also.


English Language Requirements

  • IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0 band for undergraduate courses and 6.5 band for Postgraduate courses and the requirement can be higher with 7.0 band for some courses such as Management, Law, Journalism at the high-end universities.

  • TOEFL minimum score of 80 (Internet-based test) for undergraduate courses and 90 (internet-based test) for Postgraduate courses and MBA.

  • Pearson Test Score (PTE Academic) is also accepted in most of the institutions

  • Exemption is possible if student has scored 65-70% above in English subject in the X and XII std, provided the medium of instruction is English right from schooling.

 

 

Entry Requirements / Eligibility

Undergraduate

  • 65% and above in Arts and Humanities in 12th Standard.
  • 70 - 80% and above for Science, Commerce, Engineering in Std. XII / Diploma.
  • 2nd division can also be considered by some Universities if there is some additional qualification / experience. Foundation and Diploma programs are available for students who have secured below 60% in 12th Standard)
  • Completed / will complete 18 years of age before joining a degree program.

 

Postgraduate & MBA

  • 60 % and above (First Class) or high second Class in Bachelor's degree is required by most of the Universities for Masters and Research courses. Some universities may accept student with 55% and above in the Bachelor's degree.

  • For admission to MBA, full time work experience of a minimum of 2-3 years at supervisory/managerial level after completing Bachelor's degree is required. Some of the universities do accept fresh graduates without any prior work experience.

  • Universities offering l MBA programme having Professional Accreditations such as AMBA (UK)/, EQUIS (Europe) & AACSB (USA) or combination all require a minimum of 3 years and above work experience at supervisory/managerial level and good GMAT score of 600 and above in some cases and also completed 25 years of age.

 

Documents required for Admission

  • Attested copies of Academic credentials/ mark sheets of Std X, XII, and all the 3 /4 / 5 years of the Bachelors degree. Educhannel counsellors can attest these for you, on sighting the originals.
  • At least, two Academic reference/recommendation letters from the faculty who have taught you most recently for admission to PG courses. One reference/recommendation letter in case of admission to UG programme on the UCAS application form itself.
  • If you have work experience then at least one recommendation letter from the employer who knows you well and can comment on your professional abilities.
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) – covering what you have studied so far, reasons for choosing the particular course and the institution and future career goals.
  • Curriculum Vitae / Resume.
  • Photocopies of test score reports of GMAT / IETLS / TOEFL, if available / required.
  • Portfolio of work in CD/ soft copies in case of students applying for Art & Design courses, Architecture programs).
  • Others (Certificates of Merit/ achievements and any extra- curricular activities. It is advisable to provide as much information as possible to support your application).

 

Application Process

Undergraduate Programmes

  • • Applications are made only through Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Only 1 application can be made in an academic year.
  • • It is an online application system thru UCAS ,www.ucas.ac.uk
  • • One can apply to a maximum of 5 different Universities on the same application form.
  • • A fee of £ 21 is charged by UCAS to process applications and £7 if applying to just one University.
  • Final Deadline:
    • Art and Design - 24th March
    • Oxford / Cambridge -15th October
    • Other Programs - 1st Deadline - 15th Jan : 2nd & Final Deadline - 30th June

 

Sandwich and Foundation Programmes

Sandwich programs are made up of combination of periods of study and time spent in industry. So the course duration extends to 4 years with one year industrial placement, instead of the usual 3 years.

Foundation programmes are of 1 year duration and are generally tailored for students as an alternative route to bridge between one own qualification and that which is required for entry for a degree program in a university / college.

Please note that it is advisable to meet the 1st deadline which is 15th Jan. Students are strongly advised to apply sooner as the application process may take time due to Universities getting an overwhelming number of applications.


Postgraduate Programmes & MBA

  • Application forms are available at Edu Channel offices free of cost.
  • One can apply to numerous Universities.
  • Very few Universities charge an application process fee.
  • Some of the top ranking universities have application deadlines for some courses which are in great demand with limited places available – MBA, Medicine, Dentistry.
  • Majority of the Universities do not have application deadlines, but it is advisable to apply at least 6-8 months in advance, especially if applying to a Popular University and fully-funded scholarships such as Commonwealth Scholarships, Inlaks Foundation, Rhodes Scholarships, British Chevening Scholarship scheme etc.

 

 

M.Phil, MRes & Ph.D

  • Application forms are available at Edu Channel offices free of cost.
  • One can apply to numerous Universities.
  • While making an application for the above programmes, an abstract of Research proposal is required to support your application along with other paperwork.
  • Before writing the research proposal you need to identify the research opportunities available in a particular university department and prepare your research abstract accordingly, which will be helpful for them to allocate a particular faculty member engaged in research of your topic to supervise your research work.
